Tether (USDT)

Tether (USDT) is a dollar-referenced stablecoin and the most commonly accepted cryptocurrency at retail forex brokers. Its appeal is structural: a USDT deposit avoids the banking system entirely, arrives in minutes, and does not fluctuate between sending and crediting the way a Bitcoin deposit does.

Networks matter more than the coin

USDT exists on several blockchains, and sending on the wrong one loses the money permanently. TRC-20 on Tron is the usual broker default because fees are a fraction of a dollar and confirmation takes seconds. ERC-20 on Ethereum works everywhere but costs meaningfully more per transfer. Some brokers also support BEP-20 or Solana. Copy the network from the broker's deposit page every time — an address that looks valid on the wrong chain will still accept the send.

Speed, fees and limits

Deposits typically credit after a small number of network confirmations, in practice within minutes. Brokers rarely charge a deposit fee; the network fee is yours. Minimums are usually low, and maximums are set by the broker's own risk policy rather than by any card scheme.

How the rate is fixed

Read this before your first crypto deposit. A broker credits your trading account in its base currency, converting the USDT at a rate it picks at the moment of crediting, not at the moment you sent. USDT trades close to one dollar but not exactly at it, and some brokers apply a spread on top. Sending 1,000 USDT rarely credits exactly 1,000 units, and the difference is worth confirming in the funding terms.

Withdrawals

Withdrawals return to a whitelisted wallet address, usually the one you deposited from. Anti-money-laundering rules apply to crypto exactly as to cards: a broker will not send funds to a wallet it cannot associate with you, and changing the withdrawal address typically restarts verification. ProForexBrokers.com recommends setting the withdrawal wallet at account opening rather than at the moment of first profit.
