Wise is a cross-border payment provider that converts at the mid-market rate and charges a stated fee rather than burying the cost in a spread. The third-party trap

Wise does not send money from an account in your name at a correspondent bank. It pays out from its own pooled local accounts, so the sending name a broker's bank sees may be a Wise entity rather than yours, and the reference is what ties the payment to your account. Compliance systems built to reject third-party payments flag this regularly, and the deposit sits unallocated until you send a statement proving the transfer originated from your Wise balance.

The fix is procedural, not technical: use the exact reference the broker gives, fund from a Wise account in your own verified name, and download the transfer receipt at the moment you send. Brokers that explicitly list Wise as a supported method have already configured for this; brokers that merely accept bank transfers may not have.

Speed, fees and limits

Transfers on major corridors arrive within hours and sometimes in seconds where local instant rails exist; SWIFT-routed currencies take one to three business days. Fees are a small percentage of the amount plus a fixed component, shown before you confirm. Wise publishes its own limits per currency and verification level.

Withdrawals

Some brokers will send withdrawals to a Wise multi-currency account, treating it as a bank account with local details. Others refuse, on the same third-party reasoning in reverse.
