PIX is Brazil's instant payment system, launched by the Banco Central do Brasil in November 2020. It settles in seconds, operates twenty-four hours a day including weekends and holidays, and is free for individuals. Adoption was rapid enough that PIX now handles more transactions than cards in Brazil, and any broker serious about the Brazilian market supports it.

How a broker deposit works

The broker displays a QR code or a copy-and-paste code, you approve it in your banking app, and the trading account credits within seconds. Payment is identified by a PIX key — a phone number, email, tax identifier or random key — belonging to the receiving entity. That entity is often a local payment processor rather than the broker itself, which is normal for cross-border brokers but means the name on your statement will not match the brand.

Fees, limits and the night rule

PIX is free for personal transfers. The Central Bank permits banks to apply lower transaction limits between 20:00 and 06:00 as an anti-robbery measure, and those night limits are set per customer — a large late-evening deposit can be declined for that reason alone and not because of anything the broker did. Daytime limits are adjustable in your banking app, usually with a cooling-off period before an increase takes effect.

Currency

PIX moves reais. A dollar-denominated trading account converts on receipt at the broker's or processor's rate, and that rate plus the IOF tax on foreign exchange operations is the real cost of the deposit. Compare it against the headline spread before assuming the funding is free.

Withdrawals

Brokers with a Brazilian payout partner return funds to a PIX key registered in the account holder's name, usually the same day. Where no payout partner exists, withdrawals fall back to international wire, which is slower and carries bank charges. ProForexBrokers.com treats this asymmetry as worth checking before the first deposit, since instant funding and slow withdrawal is a common pairing.
