SaxoTrader was the downloadable desktop platform of Saxo Bank, the Danish bank and broker, and for years the interface through which its clients and its many white-label partners traded. The name still appears in older broker listings, including where a bank offered Saxo's technology under its own branding.

What replaced it

Saxo retired the classic platform in favour of two products with distinct audiences:

  • SaxoTraderGO — browser and mobile, no installation, covering the full multi-asset range. This is the default for most clients.
  • SaxoTraderPRO — a downloadable desktop application for active traders, with multi-screen layouts, depth of market, algorithmic order types and more configurable workspaces.

Both reach the same account and the same instruments; the difference is how much control over the interface you need. A client can use either, or both.

Why the white-label history matters

Saxo has long supplied its trading technology to other banks and brokers, who present it under their own name. That is why a platform can look unfamiliar and behave exactly like SaxoTraderGO underneath, and why a broker's platform list sometimes names Saxo software without naming Saxo. The practical consequence for a trader: the platform is Saxo's, but the counterparty, the regulation and the client-money protection are the partner firm's. Check which entity actually holds your account.

What the technology is good at

Saxo's platforms are built around breadth rather than around forex alone — tens of thousands of instruments across FX, equities, ETFs, bonds, listed options and futures, in one account, with integrated research and risk tools. That is a different proposition from a MetaTrader installation, and it comes with a different pricing model: real commissions on exchange-traded products rather than everything buried in a spread.

If you are looking at this name today

Treat it as historical. Check the broker's current platform list, and expect SaxoTraderGO for ordinary use and SaxoTraderPRO if you trade actively enough to want the desktop tooling.
