Sberbank is Russia's largest bank and offers brokerage services to domestic clients under Bank of Russia supervision. Its retail offering is securities brokerage — equities, bonds, funds and exchange-traded derivatives on the Moscow Exchange — rather than the leveraged over-the-counter currency trading this site otherwise covers.
Sanctions. Sberbank has been subject to comprehensive sanctions by the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom and other jurisdictions since 2022, including full blocking measures and removal from SWIFT. It is not available to clients outside Russia, cross-border payments do not function, and residents of sanctioning jurisdictions are generally prohibited from dealing with it.

Account opening is available to Russian residents through the bank's domestic channels and requires Russian identity documentation and tax registration.
For readers outside Russia the practical position is simple: the institution is under blocking sanctions in the major Western jurisdictions, no account can be opened, and attempting to transact with a sanctioned entity carries legal exposure for the individual as well as for any intermediary bank.
