AvaTrade holds licences across an unusually broad set of jurisdictions — Ireland, Australia, Japan, South Africa, the UAE and the British Virgin Islands among them — which means the entity serving a given client varies more than at most brokers, and so do the terms.
The offering is wide: MetaTrader 4 and 5, the broker's own WebTrader, AvaOptions for vanilla FX options, and copy trading through both ZuluTrade and DupliTrade. AvaOptions is the genuine differentiator, since few retail brokers offer real currency options alongside CFDs.
AvaProtect, a paid feature that refunds losses on a position within a set window, is effectively an insurance premium priced into the trade — worth understanding as a cost rather than a safety net.

Verification requires photo ID and proof of address, with an appropriateness assessment on the regulated entities. Documents are usually reviewed within one business day.
Watch the dormancy charges. AvaTrade applies an inactivity fee after a period without trading and a separate administration fee after a longer period, and together they can erode a small unattended balance. Close or withdraw from an account you no longer use rather than leaving it open.
